Michael Booker has taught at Jefferson College since 1999. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University at Mankato) in 1982. He earned his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Philosophy at the University of Tennessee in 1987 and 1990. His major area of study in graduate school was Medical Ethics.
Michael married Anne Christiansen in 1987. They have two sons, Jonathan and Timothy. In addition to teaching at Jefferson College, he is also a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve and currently holds the position of Executive Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 334th Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 95th Division (Institutional Training) located in Granite City, Illinois. He is a member of the Institutional Ethics Committee at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He is a co-advisor for Jefferson College`s Xi Zeta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society. He has also appeared on the Jefferson College stage, with roles in the theatrical productions "Noises Off," "Gypsy," "Much Ado About Nothing," "The Wizard of Oz," "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940," and "The King and I." He volunteers with the Cub Scouts and Junior Achievement.
In his spare time, he tries to get some sleep.
