Michael Booker has been the Division Chair of Communication and Fine Arts since 2013; he has taught Philosophy at Jefferson College since 1999. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University at Mankato) in 1982. He earned his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Philosophy at the University of Tennessee in 1987 and 1990. His major area of study in graduate school was Medical Ethics.
Michael has been married to Anne Christiansen since 1987. They have two sons, Jonathan and Timothy.
He is retired from the Army Reserve, having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is a member of the Institutional Ethics Committee at Mercy Hospital - Jefferson. He is chair of the Jefferson College Institutional Review Board. He has also appeared on the Jefferson College stage, with roles in over a dozen theatrical productions including "Noises Off," "Comedy of Errors," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
